PRAYER FOR 125 YEARS OF CATHOLIC FAITH IN ZAMBIA

PRAYER FOR 125 YEARS OF CATHOLIC FAITH IN ZAMBIA
God our father, your triune name has been revealed to the ends of the earth. We thank you for the faith, perseverance and passion you gave to the first Catholic missionaries. Their zeal carried them on in spite of the rough seas, deserts, jungles, deadly diseases and human hostilities. We thank you Lord that through the early missionaries you freed us from both the spiritual and physical bondage. In thanksgiving, help us to leave behind our old leaven which may prevent us from knowing and loving you dearly.
Reward all those who died in the cause of our salvation. May their zeal for souls live on in us so that we too may be true, selfless and worthy missionaries in our time.
Help us Lord to move forward together in love, to remain true to our Catholic faith brought to us through sacrifices and sweat of our fore fathers in faith and may we be ready to die for it.  Bless our country and all the people of Zambia. May our celebration of hundred and tweny five years of faith be a time of renewal, may it also bring more members to the fold.

Amen.

New Vicar General for the Diocese

On 20th September, 2012, Bishop Raymond Mpezele appointed Fr. Jeffrey Tembo, Parish Priest of Sesheke, as the new Vicar General of the Diocese, after Fr. Clement Temba CSSP, who left the Diocese last July at the end of his service to the Diocese.
In a Catholic Diocese, the Vicar General is the Bishop’s close collaborator in the Pastoral care of the Diocese, which includes the governance of the Diocese.
When the Bishop is out of the country, the Vicar General is in charge of the Diocese and all matters that require the Bishop’s attention are referred to the Vicar General.
I ask all to pray for our new Vicar General.
